Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage techniques involve slow movements, direct pressure, or transverse friction without causing excessive pain or forcing the tissues.
This massage is often confused with Thai massage or sports massage, but they are very different techniques. Thai massage is performed with strong pressure, mobilizations, and dynamic stretches. Sports massage, on the other hand, focuses on muscle preparation or recovery with quick, firm movements.
Deep Tissue massage, as I practice it, is a profound yet respectful treatment, centered on relaxation, body awareness, and the lasting release of tension.
If you are looking for a Thai or sports massage, it is best to consult a practitioner specializing in those techniques.
In cases of chronic muscle strain or injury, adhesions (bands of stiff, painful tissue) commonly form in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. These adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation.
Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking up these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal mobility.
This massage is particularly effective for areas of chronic tension and tightness, such as stiff necks, lower back stiffness, and shoulder pain. Some of the strokes are identical to those of a traditional massage, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper, focusing on areas of tension and pain.
To stimulate blood circulation and relax muscles : We recommend the infrared sauna or PEMF therapy option (gentler than a sauna).
For a synergistic effect : We recommend this massage the day following an osteopathy or physiotherapy session.
